Elevated Composite Deck With White Railing

A white railing is a different decision from the black aluminium that runs through most of this portfolio: it reads lighter against a pale house and keeps the deck visually attached to the building rather than framing it as a separate structure. Here it is carried through to the support posts and the stair balustrade so the whole assembly matches.

The deck is large enough to furnish as a room — the photographs show it laid out with an outdoor rug and seating — and it steps down to a paver patio rather than ending at a single flight of stairs. One corner meets the home's bay windows, which is the detail that dictates where the framing has to land.
